My Commitment to Accessibility: Hannah J. Park Design
Design is about people, and that means making space for everyone. I'm committed to building a portfolio that's inclusive, thoughtful, and usable for as many people as possible.
As part of my graduate studies in Visual Communication Design, I've focused deeply on user experience and inclusive design, and this site reflects that ongoing journey.
What This Covers
This statement applies to the entire content of hannahjparkdesign.com. That includes all the work pages, visuals, videos, and written content hosted here through Adobe Portfolio. While this space is a snapshot of my work, it's also a space I'm actively improving, especially when it comes to accessibility.
Supporting Accessibility
While Adobe Portfolio has some platform limitations, I've been intentional with the tools I do have. So far, I've:
1. Chosen simple, structured layouts
2. Designed with low-vision users in mind by using high-contrast black, white, and gray typography
3. Used responsive layouts for both desktop and mobile viewing
4. Limited distracting or fast-moving animation
5. Started testing pages using WAVE and Siteimprove to identify potential barriers

There's still more to do, and I'm excited to keep learning and making this space better for everyone.
What Still Needs Work (and My Plan to Fix It)
Because I don't have access to HTML and custom code on this platform, a few accessibility features aren't fully in place yet. Here's what I'm aware of and what I plan to improve:
• Alt Text: Some background and gallery images don't support the custom alt text I'd like.
• Contrast: A few colors on my homepage may not fully meet WCAG contrast standards.
• Navigation: There's currently no "skip to main content" link for screen readers.
• Typography and Headings: Font sizes and heading structures are somewhat restricted.
• Footer Info: Currently, there's no persistent footer with accessibility or contact links, but that will be coming soon!

What's Next
I'm treating this like any good design process: iterative, honest, and human-centered.
• May–June 2025: Full accessibility audit using WAVE and Siteimprove
• Summer 2025: Research and test other platforms (like WordPress or Drupal) that give more control over accessibility features
• Fall 2025: Rebuild my portfolio with better structure, contrast, and screen reader support
• By December 2025: Launch the new site with the goal of meeting WCAG 2.1 AA standards
• Ongoing: Add a footer with direct access to this statement and my contact information
