Redesigning the EHHS Homepage: From Cluttered to Clear
Role: Digital Strategist / Web Lead
The Goal: Simplify information architecture for a college with 1,400+ assets
The Solution: A student-centric, 3-column modular layout

The Outcome: Enhanced scannability

The Situation
When I first reviewed the College of EHHS homepage, the primary issue wasn't a lack of content. It was a surplus of it. The "digital noise" of outdated layouts and scattered content blocks made it difficult for prospective students to navigate their options.
Key Pain Points:
• Overwhelming IA: Important resources were buried.
• Visual Fatigue: A lack of white space and purposeful design led to high bounce rates.
• Inconsistent Branding: Generic stock imagery didn't reflect the authentic student experience.

The Execution: Strategy & UI
To transform the user experience, I focused on three pillars of redesign:
A. Information Architecture & Hierarchy
I moved away from stacked blocks to a strategic three-column card layout. This allows undergraduate, graduate, and online programs to sit side-by-side, giving each path equal visual weight and allowing for at-a-glance comparison.
B. Clean & Calm Visual Language
• Typography: Introduced bold, purposeful headers to guide the eye.
• White Space: Increased padding to create a calmer browsing experience.
• Authentic Imagery: Replaced stock photos with high-quality photography of actual EHHS students to build trust and community.

The Results
The redesign transformed a cluttered repository into a professional, intuitive homepage. By prioritizing user flow and visual clarity, the new site reflects the forward-thinking mission of the college while offering a significantly improved experience for prospective students, parents, and community members alike.
The outcome: A cohesive, accessible, and aesthetically pleasing interface that bridges the gap between complex information and user needs.
